Horizon Treadmills
Horizon Fitness is a part of one of the largest manufacturers of exercise equipment in the world, Johnson Health Tech. While Horizon’s headquarter is located in Wisconsin, Johnson Health Tech is a multi-national organization with headquarters in three different countries. They are in the lower price range, going from around $800 to the low $2,000s.
Horizon Evolve Treadmills
The Evolve Series is the basic Horizon model, good for a beginner or a light walking program. When folded it is only 10” high and can easily be stored away. The belt measures 17” x 45”, which provides enough room for walking and running for most leg lengths. They hold up to 250 pounds and have displays for time, speed, distance, and calories burned. The nicest feature is that they do not require assembly. You can take it out of the box and get right to working out.
The Evolve SG Treadmill has a 1.5 CHP motor and is equipped with a heart rate monitor. It is the cheaper model in the Evolve series, but will be adequate for most home walkers since it goes from a 0.5 to 6 mph. It has two different programs to allow variety between workouts.
The Evolve Simple Step Treadmill is basically the SG with the addition of a handy pedometer which transfers your daily activity data to the treadmill wirelessly. It also includes four different programs for even more variety.
Warranties include ten years on the frame, 5 years on the motor, and 1 year for parts and labor.
Horizon CT Treadmill
The Horizon CT5.0 Treadmill is sold exclusively through Canadian Tire. It is designed with more advanced walkers and runners in mind, though it can be used by beginners as well. It may be a good purchase for beginners expecting to become seasoned walkers or runners.
The CT5.0 is not a smaller sized compact treadmill like the Evolve. The belt measures 20” x 50” and is equipped with Horizon’s Air Cell cushioning system, which makes for a more comfortable experience. It will hold up to 275 pounds body weight. It also comes with a few extra features that could be very useful if you spend a lot of time on it.
The heart rate monitor is built into hand grips, which are much easier to use while working out than the finger pulse that is used on the Evolve model. The blower fan keeps you cool during a long workout and it is available with over nine programs for more workout options. It also has an incline, up to 10% for more intense workouts.
The warranty is also much better on this model. You receive lifetime coverage on the frame, 20 years on the motor, and one year for parts and labor.
Horizon T700 Treadmill
Take another step up in price and available features and you have the Horizon T700. This one is sold exclusively at Dick’s Sporting Goods stores and offers a few features that make it more attractive to every day users who want comfort and convenience.
Tracking technology stores data for two different users, which is suitable for anyone in a training program that requires improving performance with time. It also has a hook up and two speakers for playing music from an MP3 player while working out. Serious runners who will spend a lot of hours on a treadmill will feel quite comfy working out on this model.
The motor is 2.25 CHP and the belt measures 20” x 55”. It also has the TriFlex cushioning system and comes with 11 workout programs. Capacity goes up to 300 pounds and it inclines up to 10% for more intense workouts.
This is a high quality treadmill backed with a top of the line warranty. You receive lifetime coverage on the frame and motor, and one year for parts and labor.
Horizon T71 Treadmill
This was one of the top rated treadmills for many years, being sold under a thousand dollars. With the same commercial quality motor as other Horizon treadmills, it is sturdy enough for harder workouts, and runs for longer than most other treadmills with little to no maintenance required.
The T71 Treadmill has been replaced by the T81 model, and is no longer being sold in stores, though it could possibly be found online.
Horizon T72 Treadmill
The Horizon T72 has received a Best Buy award as one of the best treadmills sold under $800. It has a 2.0 HP motor and can hold up to 300 pounds. It is equipped with the Air Cell shock system for a more comfortable workout as well as a blower fan.
This is the top of the line, commercial grade treadmill that is suitable to a more rigorous running program. It has a solid metal frame that will hold up to even larger bodies putting in long fat burning hours.
Other models of the Horizon treadmills include the T901, and there is literally an option for every budget and type of exercise program from this manufacturer. Horizon Treadmills are known for high quality products with superior motors that last much longer than other treadmills, and usually with much less maintenance required.
