PaceMaster Treadmills
PaceMaster operates under the company Aerobics Inc and has been making treadmills since the 60s. It was founded by one of the most influential figures in the development of treadmills; Bill Staub.
He used groundbreaking Aerobic Points philosophy with the manufacture all of his Pace Master treadmills. He drew inspiration from Dr. Kenneth Cooper’s principles on aerobic exercise to provide his clients with cardiovascular benefits at the end of each workout. The past 30 years have been extensive research and development on PaceMaster treadmills.
PaceMaster has four residential treadmill models; Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. There are two lengths of treadbelt. The Bronze and Silver have a 54" running surface, while the Gold and Platinum have an extended 60" surface.
The warranty of a PaceMaster is pretty good. You get a lifetime warranty on the frame, a 12 year motor, 5 year parts and 1 year labor warranty. PaceMaster treadmill frames are welded, instead of bolted, which gives greater stability and durability.
You can't buy PaceMaster treadmills in department stores. You can only buy them from fitness specialty stores. You can also buy Pacemaster treadmills online. The fact that PaceMaster treadmills aren't sold in department stores says a lot about the company's philosophy: it believes in making the best treadmills possible rather than making and selling the most it can.
Overall review of the PaceMaster treadmill
All treadmills from PaceMaster come with a 3.0 continuous duty hp McMillan motor so the treadmill can cope with the most demanding runner. Each treadmill also comes with 2.5" rollers, designed to increase the life of the belt, motor and roller bearings. The machine, when in use, is very quiet.
The weight of PaceMaster treadmill models range from 190 to 205 lbs, which it quite light - the average weight of the BowFlex treadmill is around 300 lbs. The PaceMaster has 400 lbs user weight capacity, which is more than most other treadmills.
It's very hard to criticize the PaceMaster treadmill but let's give it a try.
A few consumer reviews have said that because of it's light aluminum frame the PaceMaster treadmill can be a little unsteady. Another criticism is that Pacemaster treadmills are a little spartan. There are no fancy features. The design and the console layout are very basic. But PaceMaster has always placed greater emphasis on engineering rather than 'trendy designs'.
The Pacemaster is competing in the mid-range treadmill market, which is extremely competitive making it very hard to rise above other brands. However, PaceMaster treadmills do rise above other brands. The overall engineering still makes them an excellent low-maintenance treadmill with a deserved reputation as a quality piece of exercise equipment.
